SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you a resilient, calm, and dedicated educator looking to make a real difference? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Tyldesley.

This is an ongoing, full-time position starting after the Easter break, providing vital stability and support for children who need it most.

The Role

You will be working within Key Stage 1 (KS1), supporting several children with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and challenging behaviour. This role requires someone who can build strong rapport quickly and remain a steady presence in the classroom.

Location: Tyldesley (M29 area).

Start Date: April 2026 (post-Easter).

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant.

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday.

Pay: Competitive daily rates paid weekly.

Key Responsibilities

Behavioural Support: Implementing firm but fair boundaries and using de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively.

Individualised Care: Supporting pupils with ADHD and Autism to stay engaged with tasks through creative and sensory-based adaptations.

Inclusive Learning: Helping children navigate the KS1 curriculum at their own pace, ensuring they feel confident and included.

Progress Tracking: Working with the SENCO to monitor development and feedback on EHCP goals.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

Qualification: A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (as a minimum).

Experience: Previous experience supporting children with SEN (Autism/ADHD) is essential.

Resilience: A thick skin and a calm demeanour when faced with challenging situations.

Compliance: An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to process one) and two professional references.

Legal right to work in the UK

CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
