A supportive primary school in Harrow is seeking a committed and compassionate Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team after Easter.

This is a full-time, term-time only position, combining general Teaching Assistant responsibilities with targeted support for a child with autism. The role would suit someone who is calm, nurturing and experienced in helping children with additional needs feel secure, engaged and able to access school life successfully.

The role

As a Year 2 Teaching Assistant, you will support learning across the classroom and work closely with the class teacher to help pupils stay focused, motivated and included. A key part of the role will involve supporting a pupil with autism / ASD, helping with routines, transitions, communication and emotional regulation throughout the school day.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled Primary Teaching Assistant, SEN TA or Autism Support Assistant who enjoys making a genuine difference in the classroom.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school

  • Experience supporting children with autism / ASD in a school setting

  • A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach

  • Confidence supporting pupils in Key Stage 1, particularly Year 2

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
