Functional Skills Tutor - North Yorkshire (Immediate Start Available)
Tradewind Recruitment are proud to be supporting North Yorkshire LEA in the search for a committed and adaptable Functional Skills Tutor to deliver English and Maths support across North Yorkshire, including areas such as Northallerton, Ripon, Harrogate, and surrounding locations.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a flexible, impactful role supporting young people who require additional guidance to re-engage with education. Many of the learners you'll work with may have SEND, SEMH needs, or be looked after, meaning your role will go far beyond teaching - you'll be helping to rebuild confidence and inspire progress.
What the Role Involves:
* Delivering Functional Skills English and Maths sessions tailored to individual learners (1:1 or small group)
* Creating personalised lesson plans that meet a range of abilities and learning styles
* Supporting students with additional needs, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment
* Monitoring and recording learner progress, providing regular feedback
* Encouraging attendance, engagement, and positive learning behaviours
* Building strong relationships with learners, carers, and professionals involved in their support
We're Keen to Hear From Candidates Who:
* Have a teaching qualification (QTS desirable) or relevant tutoring/TA experience
* Have worked with children or young people with SEND, SEMH, or similar needs
* Are confident delivering both English and Maths Functional Skills
* Are resilient, empathetic, and able to adapt their approach to suit each learner
* Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or are happy to obtain one)
