Religious Education (RE) Teacher

Location: Canterbury
Salary: MPS/UPS depending on experience - PAYE
Contract: Full time
Start Date: September 2026 - December 2026 in the first instance!

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and reflective Religious Education Teachers to join supportive and forward-thinking secondary schools in the Canterbury area. The successful candidates will inspire students to explore beliefs, values, and ethical issues, fostering respect, curiosity, and critical thinking.

You will teach RE across Key Stages 3 and 4 contributing to a curriculum that encourages open discussion and an understanding of diverse perspectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality RE lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Encourage critical thinking, discussion, and respect for different beliefs and worldviews
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress in line with school policies
  • Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners
  • Contribute to the development of the RE curriculum and departmental resources
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
  • Promote SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) development across the curriculum
  • Participate in whole-school activities, assemblies, and enrichment opportunities
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote student wellbeing

Person Specification

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Degree in Religious Education, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject
  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for RE
  • Ability to engage and inspire students of all abilities
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and high standards of teaching and learning
