Early Years Teacher (Reception)

A highly regarded, single-form entry primary school based in Heaton Mersey, Stockport is seeking to appoint a driven and committed Reception Teacher to join their Early Years team from September. The role pays MPS 1-6 and is on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.

The position is open to both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and more experienced practitioners who are passionate about delivering high-quality early years education. The school has an outstanding reputation within the local community, supported by consistently strong academic results and a commitment to nurturing every child's development.

Reception Teacher


The school is looking for a teacher who is deeply committed to supporting children in the earliest stage of their educational journey. The role will involve creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring all pupils are given the best possible start to their education. The school supports the Systematic, Synthetic Rocket Phonics Programme and works hard to instill a love of reading amongst all pupils.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A genuine passion for early childhood education and development
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework and creative ability to make activities purposeful, progressive fun and engaging.
  • A strong understanding that every child is unique and an ability to meet individual needs
  • The ability to create an safe and inclusive environment which enables pupils to build and learn as an individual as well as socially with other children
  • The ability to foster a love of reading and promote reading for pleasure
  • A commitment to strong standards and adhering to all policies including safeguarding behaviour, ,assessment, ICT and Anti-bulllying.

Essential Requirements:

  • QTS Status or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • A minimum of 2 references that demonstrate excellent practice in the primary setting
  • Direct experience in an EYFS setting
  • Be subject to an enhanced DBS check and overseas police check (where applicable)
  • Right to work in the UK
