Premises Officer / Caretaker - Secondary Schools (Lewisham)
Full-Time | 5 Days per Week

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a welcoming and well-established secondary school environment across Lewisham. This is a full-time role, ideal for a proactive individual with strong technical knowledge and a genuine commitment to maintaining safe, secure, and well-functioning school facilities.

About the Role
As a Premises Officer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management, maintenance, and security of the school site. You will ensure that the premises are clean, compliant, and operating efficiently to support both staff and students in a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general maintenance and upkeep of school buildings and grounds
  • Carry out routine inspections, repairs, and health & safety checks
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and site policies
  • Manage site security, including opening and closing procedures
  • Liaise with contractors and external service providers where required
  • Support with setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and events

Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Premises Officer, Caretaker, or in a similar facilities role within a school or educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of building maintenance, health & safety regulations, and site management
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • A proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • A relevant qualification or degree is preferred
