Science Technician - Secondary School - Harrow - September 2026 Start - Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Harrow seeking a Science Technician to join their team from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the science department, supporting teachers and students while helping to ensure the smooth running of laboratory-based lessons.
Science Technician - Role Overview
As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare resources, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and well-organised laboratory environment. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
- Assisting teachers during practical sessions where required
- Cleaning, maintaining, and storing laboratory equipment safely and correctly
- Preparing chemical solutions and managing stock levels of resources and consumables
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulations
- Supporting the organisation and upkeep of laboratories and prep rooms
- Carrying out risk assessments and helping to ensure safe practical work
- Managing the safe disposal of waste materials in line with school policies
- Supporting the science department with general administrative and technical tasks
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment, stock, and experiments
Requirements
- Previous experience in a laboratory, school, or technical environment (desirable but not essential)
- A strong interest in science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics background desirable)
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a lab setting (training can be provided)
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Calm, reliable, and proactive approach to work
- Strong communication skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
