Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH School)

Salary: £92.56-£95 per day (dependent on experience)

TradeWind Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in the Corby area to recruit a dedicated and resilient Mental Health Teaching Assistant.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access education.


The Role

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students

  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

  • Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals

  • Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment

  • Assist in delivering tailored interventions and pastoral support


The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs

  • Is calm, patient, and resilient under pressure

  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Can de-escalate challenging situations effectively

  • Has a genuine interest in mental health, education, or youth work

  • Backgrounds in psychology, youth work, care, or sports coaching are highly desirable
