Health and Safety Officer - Secondary School - Hillingdon - ASAP Start - Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Hillingdon seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and well-managed school environment for staff and students.

Health and Safety Officer - Role Overview
As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing health and safety procedures across the school site. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and reviewing health and safety policies and procedures
  • Conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and school policies
  • Recording and investigating incidents, accidents, and near misses
  • Providing guidance and training to staff on health and safety practices
  • Liaising with external agencies and contractors where required
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Supporting emergency procedures, including fire safety and evacuation drills
  • Promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing across the school

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a health and safety role, ideally within a school or public sector environment
  • Relevant health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH or equivalent) desirable
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to train and support staff
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
