Location: Blackpool, Lancashire Salary: Paid to scale (NJC Scale) | Typically £102.83 - £122+ per day (PAYE) Contract: Full-Time, Temporary to Permanent Start Date: ASAP / Next Term

The Mission: Changing Mindsets in Blackpool

Are you a specialist in "second chances"? We are looking for a Behaviour Mentor with a strong Pastoral focus to join a vibrant school community in Blackpool.

This isn't about sitting at the back of a classroom with a clipboard. This role is for someone who can get "into the trenches" with students who are struggling to engage. You will be the bridge between the student, the classroom, and their home life helping them navigate the emotional and social hurdles that prevent them from learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 Mentoring: Deliver targeted intervention sessions to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

  • De-escalation: Act as a "first responder" for behavioural incidents, using calm, trauma-informed strategies to resolve conflict.

  • Pastoral Support: Work closely with the SENCO and Safeguarding team to monitor student well-being and attendance.

  • Barrier Removal: Identify the "why" behind the behaviour. Whether it's anxiety, home life, or learning gaps, you are there to find a solution.

  • Role Modelling: Maintain high expectations and provide a consistent, safe presence for vulnerable learners.

What We're Looking For

  • The "Right" Personality: You need to be resilient, empathetic, and possess a great sense of humour. In Blackpool schools, rapport is your greatest tool.

  • Experience: Backgrounds in Youth Work, Sports Coaching, Residential Care, or Military/Ex-Services are highly valued.

  • Strategy: Experience with Team Teach, MAPA, or other de-escalation training is a significant advantage.

  • Commitment: This is a temp-to-perm role. We want someone who wants to become a cornerstone of the school's support network.

Why This Role?

  • Fair Pay: We pay strictly according to the NJC (National Joint Council) scale. Your pay will reflect your experience and the level of responsibility you take on.

  • No Umbrella Companies: We operate a pure PAYE model. No hidden fees, no "payroll" deductions just honest pay for honest work.

  • Work-Life Balance: Monday to Friday, term-time only. Reclaim your evenings and weekends.

  • Professional Development: Access to school-based CPD and the chance to secure a permanent contract with a leading Blackpool employer.
