Salary: £168.80 - £261.78 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an energetic and dedicated PE Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Durham on a full-time basis. This role will begin after May half term 2026 and will run as a maternity cover until February 2027.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a supportive and forward-thinking school environment, delivering engaging Physical Education lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop their physical skills, teamwork, confidence, and understanding of health and fitness.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons across a range of sports and activities, promoting participation and inclusion, and supporting students of all abilities to achieve their full potential. The role will also involve contributing to extracurricular sports activities and maintaining high standards of behaviour and safety during practical sessions.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching PE at secondary level
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to deliver a wide range of sports and physical activities
  • Commitment to promoting health, fitness, and student wellbeing
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • A proactive, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to teaching
