SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist) - Supply Basis

Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants with experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to work across a trusted network of schools in the Sheffield area on a flexible supply basis.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist), you will:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
  • Help create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff
  • Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
  • Encourage independence and confidence within the classroom setting

Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with autism/SEN
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A flexible and proactive attitude
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
