Science Teacher - Mainstream Secondary School

Location: Lancaster, Lancashire

Start Date: 1st June

Contract: Full-Time (5 Days Per Week)

Position Type: Long-Term with a view to Permanent (Temp-to-Perm)

Pay: £168.80 - £232.56 per day (Paid to scale)

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Science Teacher to join a high-achieving mainstream secondary school in Lancaster. Starting on 1st June, this role offers the perfect opportunity to embed yourself in a supportive department before the end of the academic year, with the clear intention of transitioning into a permanent contract for the new school year.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (all specialisms-Biology, Chemistry, and Physics-are welcome).

  • Plan and prepare high-quality resources that cater to a range of learning abilities.

  • Assess student progress and use data to inform future planning and interventions.

  • Maintain a positive learning environment through effective classroom management and building strong rapport with students.

  • Contribute to the wider school community, attending departmental meetings and parents' evenings where required.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS is essential.

  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for the Science curriculum.

  • Proven track record of raising student attainment and engagement.

  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to fit seamlessly into an established team.

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
