Year 1Teacher - Full Time (1 Year Fixed Term Contract)

Tradewind are currently recruiting for a dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Manchester on a full-time basis from September.

You will be responsible for leading a Year 1 class for the full academic year, supporting pupils as they transition from EYFS into Key Stage 1. The role involves delivering a creative, engaging curriculum with a strong focus on phonics, early reading, and building strong foundations in core subjects. The school serves a diverse community and places a strong emphasis on inclusion, pupil wellbeing, and developing confident, independent learners. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience teaching within EYFS or KS1, with a strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum
  • Confidence in delivering phonics (e.g. Read Write Inc or similar) and early reading strategies
  • A nurturing and inclusive teaching approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and families
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with a focus on positive reinforcement and clear routines
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and EAL, adapting learning to meet a wide range of needs
  • A creative and engaging teaching style that supports hands-on, practical learning
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach

Essential requirements:

  • QTS (or an equivalent teaching qualification)
  • Recent KS2 teaching experience supported by strong references
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to work in the UK
