Full-Time Teaching Assistant (Specialist Provision - Primary, Chesterfield)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Chesterfield, supporting primary-aged children up to Year 6. This is a full-time, permanent role starting in September 2026.

The role will initially be pay rolled through Tradewind Recruitment before transitioning onto a direct permanent contract with the school.

About the Role

You will be working within a well-supported specialist setting, assisting pupils with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, and other barriers to learning, including behavioural needs. Your role will involve both classroom support and targeted intervention work, helping pupils access learning and develop key social, emotional, and academic skills.

The school maintains a high staff-to-pupil ratio, ensuring strong team collaboration and consistent support for all learners. Clear behaviour policies and structured routines are in place, allowing staff to focus on positive engagement and progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils in class under the direction of teaching staff and SEN specialists
  • Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions where required
  • Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, and social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Promoting positive behaviour strategies and consistent routines
  • Helping pupils access the curriculum in a structured and supportive way
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children with additional needs (essential)
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD and/or behavioural challenges
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, resilient and patient approach
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential due to location/requirements of the role)
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

Contract Details

  • Full-time, permanent role (start September 2026)
  • Initially payroll via Tradewind Recruitment before school contract transfer
  • Supportive specialist environment with strong staffing structure
