About the Role

Are you a passionate primary educator with a knack for making numbers come alive? A vibrant and forward-thinking primary school in Colchester is seeking a dedicated Primary Maths Specialist Teacher to join their team this September 2026 on a part-time basis.

In this role, you will champion the Mathematics curriculum, delivering high-quality, engaging mastery lessons across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You will work to raise attainment, inspire a love for problem-solving, and support class teachers in embedding excellent mathematical practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted, high-impact Maths lessons and interventions across a range of primary year groups.

  • Utilize effective assessment tools to track pupil progress and tailor learning to meet diverse needs (including high-attainers and those requiring extra support).

  • Create a stimulating, inclusive learning environment that fosters independence and mathematical confidence.

  • Collaborate with class teachers, teaching assistants, and senior leadership to drive standard high-quality learning.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Proven experience teaching the UK Primary Curriculum, with a clear passion or specialisation in Mathematics.

  • Strong behaviour management skills and a reflective approach to teaching.

  • A collaborative team player with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience or training in the Maths Mastery approach is highly desirable.
