Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a Learning Mentor looking for a rewarding opportunity supporting vulnerable young people across Rochdale?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting Learning Mentors for a growing Alternative Provision service in Rochdale that works closely with both primary and secondary schools to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

These are full-time temporary positions starting in September 2026, with strong potential to become permanent.

The Role

This is a unique and rewarding Learning Mentor role that combines support within the Alternative Provision setting alongside outreach and reintegration work within mainstream schools across Rochdale.

You will build positive relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education, experiencing SEMH difficulties, or at risk of exclusion. Once pupils are ready for reintegration, you will continue supporting them within their mainstream school placement to help ensure a successful transition back into education.

The role requires reliable, consistent and nurturing individuals who can provide stability, build trust, and positively influence outcomes for young people.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support pupils with SEMH, SEND and behavioural needs on a one-to-one and small group basis
* Build strong, consistent relationships with pupils to support engagement and emotional wellbeing
* Support reintegration back into mainstream primary and secondary schools
* Travel between sites and schools across Rochdale where required
* Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and resilience
* Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, families and external agencies
* Support personalised interventions and mentoring strategies
* Help pupils develop confidence, attendance and readiness for learning
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to support planning

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* A calm, patient and empathetic approach
* Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
* The ability to remain consistent, reliable and professional
* Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A genuine passion for helping young people succeed

The provision welcomes applications from candidates with backgrounds in:

* Counselling or mental health support
* Community or faith-based youth organisations

To join us and be successful in this Learning Mentor role, you will need:
* A minimum of 3 months' recent experience supporting children or young people in a school, youth work, care or community setting
* Experience working with SEMH, SEND or vulnerable learners is desirable
* A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
* An Enhanced DBS Disclosure and professional references
* A full CV with employment and education history included
* The legal right to work in the UK
