1:1 SEN Support Assistant | ASD & Nurture Specialist

  • Location: Fleetwood, Lancashire (Primary School)

  • Pay: £14.24 - £15.00 per hour (Direct PAYE)

  • Start Date: September 2026 (New Academic Year)

  • Contract: Term time, temporary contract

  • Hours: Full-Time (32.5 hours per week, 08:30-15:30, Monday-Friday)

A welcoming local primary school is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to provide vital stability for a charming Year 1 student starting this September. This is a long-term role providing the consistent care and emotional support a young learner needs to thrive.

The Role: ASD & Complex Needs Focus

The student is Autistic, non-verbal, and currently working at an 18-month developmental level. This role requires a nurture-first approach, prioritising emotional well-being and sensory regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication: Utilising visuals (PECS), sensory cues, and play-based engagement.

  • Nurture Learning: Adapting Year 1 curriculum activities into accessible, sensory-heavy learning aids.

  • Personal Care: Providing essential personal care with the utmost dignity and respect.

  • EHCP Delivery: Working closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to achieve targets within the student's Education, Health and Care Plan.

About You (Person Specification)

  • SEND Experience: Previous experience (or a profound interest) in ASD and complex needs.

  • A Calming Presence: The ability to remain regulated during sensory meltdowns and celebrate small developmental "wins."

  • Reliability: Ability to commit to a full-time, Monday to Friday schedule for the duration of the academic year.
