Long-Term Cover Supervisor - Secondary School

Tradewind Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work on a long-term basis at a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Rotherham. This full-time role is due to commence in September and offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a secondary school setting.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning by supervising classes during teacher absences and ensuring students remain engaged with the work set.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects.
• Supervise whole classes in the absence of the class teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and in line with the school's behaviour policy.
• Ensure students remain focused, engaged, and on task throughout lessons.
• Provide support and guidance to students where appropriate.
• Record attendance and report any issues or concerns to relevant staff members.
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Support the wider school community and participate in school activities where required.

Requirements

• Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Confidence in leading groups of secondary-aged students.
• Ability to adapt quickly and work across a variety of subject areas.
• Professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach to work.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker, Sports Coach, or similar role.
• Degree-level education or relevant qualifications.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and secondary school practices.
