We are seeking a highly organised, enthusiastic and proactive Design & Technology / Food Technician to support the delivery of an engaging and innovative curriculum at our successful secondary school in Newham.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical environment and is passionate about supporting young people in developing their creative, technical and culinary skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare materials, ingredients, equipment and resources for Design & Technology and Food lessons.
• Support teachers and students during practical lessons and demonstrations.
• Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering supplies and equipment.
• Ensure all workshops, kitchens and preparation areas are organised, clean and safe.
• Carry out routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
• Assist in the implementation of health and safety procedures, including food hygiene requirements.
• Support displays, exhibitions and curriculum events where required.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• Good organisational and time management skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A practical approach to problem-solving and attention to detail.
• An understanding of health and safety procedures within a workshop or food preparation environment.
• Experience working in a school, catering, food production, design or technical environment would be advantageous, although training will be provided for the right candidate.
