Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be supporting this Client, a successful and inclusive secondary school based in the London Borough of Islington, in their search for an enthusiastic and talented Design Technology Teacher specialising in Food Technology and Product Design to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis from September.

This Client is seeking a passionate Design Technology specialist who can inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will join a dedicated and innovative Design Technology department committed to delivering engaging and practical lessons that develop creativity, technical knowledge, problem-solving skills and an understanding of the design process. The ability to teach both Food Technology and Product Design is essential for this role.

The Role

As a Design Technology Teacher, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality Design Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, specialising in Food Technology and Product Design.
    * Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based learning experiences.
    * Develop students' creativity, technical understanding and design skills.
    * Teach students key principles of food preparation, nutrition, product development and manufacturing processes.
    * Monitor and assess student progress effectively.
    * Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all learners.
    * Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development.
    * Maintain high standards of health and safety within specialist teaching environments.
    * Promote high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
    * Participate fully in the wider life of the school.

Qualifications Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    * A degree in Design Technology, Product Design, Food Technology or a closely related subject.
    * Evidence of ongoing professional development.
    * A strong understanding of the National Curriculum and GCSE specifications.
    * Knowledge of health and safety requirements within workshop and food preparation environments.

Salary: London MPS/UPS

M1 - M6 Salaries are aligned to experience within the Main Pay Range. Teachers typically progress annually from M1 through to M6, UPS requires formal application. TLR payments made for agreed, sustained additional duties outside of regular teaching.
