SEND Teaching Assistant - One-to-One Support Role
Location: Rotherham
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a number of schools across Rotherham who are seeking dedicated full-time Teaching Assistants to join their teams from September 2026. These rewarding positions will involve providing one-to-one support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, helping them to feel confident, included, and successful within the classroom environment.

We are looking for candidates who have previous experience working with children with SEND and behavioural needs. You may have supported pupils with autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, communication difficulties, or complex learning needs and understand the importance of a consistent, patient, and nurturing approach.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one support to pupils with additional needs
  • Help children access the curriculum and engage positively with learning
  • Support emotional regulation and manage challenging behaviour using effective strategies
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
  • Work alongside teachers and SEN professionals to support individual pupil plans
  • Build trusting relationships with children to help them achieve their potential

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Experience supporting pupils with behavioural challenges
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children
