Tradewind Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a welcoming and community-focused primary school in Kirk Hallam in their search for an enthusiastic EYFS / KS1 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive environment where every child is valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting pupils across the Early Years and Key Stage 1 age range, including children with additional learning, emotional and behavioural needs.

The Role

As an EYFS / KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils in the classroom, on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Help children with SEND, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
  • Build positive relationships that promote confidence, wellbeing and independence.
  • Assess and respond to individual pupil needs.
  • Support children to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

✅ Has experience supporting children in a primary school, nursery, care or SEND setting.

✅ Has experience working with pupils with ASD, ADHD and emotional or behavioural needs.

✅ Is calm, patient, resilient and nurturing.

✅ Can build strong relationships with children, staff and parents.

✅ Uses initiative and can work independently as well as part of a team.

✅ Is passionate about making a lasting difference to children's educational journeys.

✅ Puts children's wellbeing and development at the heart of everything they do.
