We are currently recruiting for a caring, dedicated, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in St Helens. The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, working closely with teachers and the SENCO to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Assisting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, learning difficulties, and other additional needs.
- Supporting pupils to access the curriculum through differentiated learning activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence, and independence.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher.
- Creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, either in a school, care, or community setting.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm and adaptable in a busy classroom environment.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential. We also welcome applications from graduates, support workers, youth workers, and those looking to build a career in education.
