Experienced Teaching Assistant
A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Hounslow is seeking an experienced and committed Experienced Teaching Assistant to join its dedicated student support team from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a well-established school with a strong focus on pastoral care, inclusion, and helping every student achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and the wider support team to provide effective classroom support, helping students overcome learning barriers and make positive academic progress.
You will be supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD). The role will involve delivering classroom-based support, as well as focused one-to-one and small group interventions to help students build confidence and develop key skills. The successful Experienced Teaching Assistant will have a strong understanding of SEN support and the ability to create a positive and structured learning environment within Hounslow. Candidates with previous experience supporting students with ASD, ADHD, communication needs, or behavioural challenges may be considered for a higher rate of pay.
Responsibilities
Provide dedicated support to students during lessons, helping them engage with learning and access the curriculum.
Deliver targeted one-to-one and small group interventions to support progress and confidence.
Work closely with students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and MLD.
Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement effective learning strategies.
Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
Requirements
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a secondary school setting is essential.
Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A patient, resilient, and flexible approach to supporting young people.
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
