Are you a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role within a welcoming Junior School?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a committed and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and supportive Junior School in Swadlincote. This is a full-time position, starting in September 2026, offering a daily rate of £95 per day.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work as a general class Teaching Assistant, providing in-class support alongside the class teacher while also delivering targeted small group intervention sessions to help pupils make excellent progress.

As the Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 2 classrooms
  • Work alongside the class teacher to provide high-quality classroom support
  • Deliver targeted small group intervention sessions to support pupils in core subjects
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of pupils, providing both support and appropriate challenge
  • Identify misconceptions and provide effective interventions to develop pupils' knowledge and understanding
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
  • Manage behaviour using calm, positive, and consistent strategies
  • Work closely with teaching staff and the wider school team to support pupil progress and wellbeing

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • Experience working within a Primary or Junior School setting
  • Experience supporting pupils within whole-class and small group intervention settings
  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent
  • An NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or an equivalent relevant qualification) is desirable
  • A strong understanding of child development and effective classroom practice
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
