St Albans, Hertfordshire | Full-Time | 12-Month Maternity Cover | MPS (London Fringe): £35,600 - £48,477

An outstanding opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic Year 1 (KS1) Teacher to join a highly regarded primary school in St Albans from 1st September 2026.

The school is looking to appoint quickly and is offering immediate trial days for suitable teachers with an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, giving successful applicants the opportunity to visit the school, meet the team and secure the role without delay.

The Opportunity

This successful and well-resourced primary school has built an excellent reputation for providing high-quality education within a supportive and welcoming environment for both pupils and staff.

You will take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, working alongside a dedicated Teaching Assistant and 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to deliver engaging lessons that inspire pupils, build confidence and help every child reach their full potential.

Joining an experienced and collaborative teaching team, you will play a key role in maintaining the school's high standards while covering this 12-month maternity leave position.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to hear from teachers who have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Recent experience teaching Year 1 or Key Stage 1
  • The ability to plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons
  • Experience supporting children with a range of learning needs, including SEND
  • High expectations of pupil achievement, behaviour and wellbeing
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive, enthusiastic approach and the ability to make an immediate impact
