Secondary school Cover Supervisor opportunity for experienced education professionals with strong classroom management and communication skills.

Secondary School seeks an experienced Cover Supervisor to provide structured classroom supervision and ensure pupils continue with their planned learning when their permanent teacher is unavailable.

You will supervise classes using work prepared by teaching staff, ensuring pupils understand what is expected and remain focused throughout the lesson.

The successful candidate will be confident managing a classroom independently, dealing with low-level disruption appropriately and knowing when to seek support from the wider school team.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise lessons in the absence of the permanent teacher.
• Deliver instructions and learning activities provided by teaching staff.
• Maintain appropriate classroom expectations.
• Manage low-level disruption using consistent behaviour strategies.
• Encourage pupils to remain focused and complete their work.
• Record relevant information following lessons.
• Support a positive learning environment.
• Follow school safeguarding, behaviour and attendance procedures.
• Liaise with teaching and pastoral staff when required.

Suitable Candidates will have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Clear and confident communication.
• A calm and consistent approach to behaviour.
• The ability to work independently.
• Professionalism and reliability.
• A commitment to safeguarding.

Previous experience teaching, tutoring or supporting pupils within a school setting is preferred.
