Job Description

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Are you a graduate looking to build valuable experience working with young people in an educational setting? A welcoming further education college in Hounslow is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join its team from September 2026.

About the Opportunity

Working as part of the wider college support team, you will help students get the most from their education. You will provide practical assistance in lessons, encourage learners who may lack confidence and help create an environment where students feel supported and able to participate.

No two days are likely to be the same, with the opportunity to work with different students, subjects and staff across the two campuses.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Assisting with classroom preparation and learning resources.

  • Communicating effectively with teaching, pastoral and support teams.

  • Building constructive relationships with students and acting as a positive role model.

  • Contributing to a welcoming, respectful and inclusive college environment.

  • An enthusiastic and approachable personality.

  • A genuine interest in working with young people.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to remain calm, patient and professional.

  • Confidence working independently as well as part of a wider team.

  • Flexibility to work between the college's two campuses.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

  • Full right to work in the UK.

What You Can Expect

  • A chance to gain hands-on experience within further education.

  • Flexible opportunities offering 3-5 working days per week.

  • Exposure to different students, subjects and learning environments.

  • Support and guidance from experienced education professionals.
