SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School
Are you an experienced support professional who is passionate about helping pupils with additional needs reach their potential? A welcoming secondary school in Ealing is seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team from September 2026.
The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, with hours of approximately 8:15am to 4:00pm. You will become part of a supportive team working closely with teachers and pastoral colleagues to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and feel confident within the school environment.

About the Role
You will provide tailored support to pupils who require additional assistance throughout the school day. Depending on individual needs, this could include supporting learning in the classroom, working on a one-to-one basis or assisting small groups.
The successful candidate will be patient, observant and confident in adapting their communication and support strategies. You will play an important part in helping pupils access their education while encouraging them to develop greater independence.
Your Responsibilities
Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
Assist students to access classroom learning and participate in activities.
Adapt your approach according to individual learning and support requirements.
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
Work closely with teaching staff to reinforce learning objectives.
Support pupils with communication, concentration and engagement where required.
Help maintain a structured and positive learning environment.
Build consistent and trusting relationships with pupils.
Follow individual support strategies and school policies.
Communicate relevant observations and concerns to appropriate members of staff.
Provide appropriate support with behaviour and emotional regulation.
The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
Understanding of different additional learning needs and barriers to education.
Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain calm and consistent when dealing with challenging situations.
A proactive attitude and willingness to work as part of a wider support team.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Right to work in the UK.
