Job Description

📐 Maths Teacher - Make Maths Matter!

Location: Wolverhampton
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
Hours: Full-time / Part-time opportunities available

Are you a Maths Teacher who believes there's more than one way to get the right answer?

We're looking for an experienced Maths Teacher to join a forward-thinking specialist secondary school in the Wolverhampton area, supporting young people who may not have found their place in mainstream education.

This isn't your typical Maths classroom.

Our pupils may have SEMH needs, additional learning needs, behavioural challenges or disrupted educational backgrounds. We believe that every young person can achieve - sometimes they just need someone to teach them differently.

That's where you come in.

🧮 The Role

You'll be teaching Maths to secondary-aged pupils across a range of abilities, helping them build the skills, confidence and belief they need to succeed.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Deliver engaging and creative Maths lessons that pupils can actually connect with.
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE where appropriate.
  • Make Maths practical, relevant and - dare we say it - fun!
  • Adapt your teaching to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
  • Help pupils who may have lost confidence in their education rediscover what they can achieve.
  • Develop positive relationships built on trust, consistency and respect.
  • Work alongside an experienced pastoral and SEN team.
  • Support pupils through different learning pathways, qualifications and routes towards their future goals.
  • Celebrate the small wins as well as the big ones - because sometimes getting a pupil to engage for the first time is just as important as getting that grade 9.

👥 Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced Maths Teacher who can bring energy, patience and creativity into the classroom.

You'll ideally be someone who:

  • Has experience teaching Maths in a secondary school setting.
  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience working with SEN, SEMH, PRU or alternative provision pupils.
  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm, positive and consistent way.
  • Can think on their feet and adapt when a lesson doesn't quite go to plan!
  • Understands that relationship-building is just as important as lesson planning.
  • Has high expectations but understands that every pupil's journey is different.
  • Can motivate pupils who may have disengaged from education.
  • Is resilient, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about helping young people succeed.

🌟 Why This School?

Because one size definitely doesn't fit all.

The school provides multiple learning pathways designed around the individual young person, giving pupils different opportunities to learn, develop and prepare for their next steps.

Whether a pupil is working towards GCSEs, Functional Skills, vocational qualifications or developing the confidence and skills they need for adulthood, the focus is on finding the right pathway for them.

You won't just be teaching equations, fractions and algebra.

You'll be helping young people discover that they are capable of more than they might think.

💡 If You're…

✔ An experienced Maths Teacher
✔ Passionate about SEN/SEMH education
✔ Calm, creative and resilient
✔ Great at building relationships
✔ Someone who thinks outside the box
✔ Looking for a role where your work genuinely makes a difference

…then we'd love to hear from you.
