Role Summary A specialist alternative provision in Burnley is looking for a dedicated Primary Nurture Teacher to start immediately. This role involves educating primary-aged pupils who require targeted social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) support outside of mainstream classrooms.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver an adapted primary national curriculum focusing on core subjects alongside emotional regulation and social skills.
Manage a small nurture group using trauma-informed practices and restorative behaviour strategies.
Collaborate closely with parents, carers, and multi-agency professionals to monitor holistic student progress.
Create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment that re-engages vulnerable learners with education.
Candidate Specification
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant specialist experience within UK schools.
Experience: Proven background working with primary pupils with SEMH, ASC, or complex behavioural needs in an Alternative Provision (AP) or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU).
Compliance: Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
