Design Technology Technician

Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Design Technology Technician to join a secondary school in Halton. The successful candidate will support the school's Design Technology department on a full-time, ongoing basis, working alongside teaching staff to ensure practical lessons, workshops and resources are prepared and maintained to a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Technology Technician, D&T Technician, Resistant Materials Technician or practical workshop specialist looking for a full-time position within a secondary school environment.

The Role

As a Design Technology Technician, you will play an important role in supporting the effective day-to-day running of the school's Design Technology department.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing materials, equipment and resources for Design Technology lessons.
  • Supporting teachers with the preparation of practical activities.
  • Ensuring workshops, classrooms and practical areas are organised and ready for use.
  • Maintaining and checking tools, machinery and equipment.
  • Assisting with the safe storage and organisation of materials and resources.
  • Helping to ensure equipment is used safely and appropriately.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and reporting any issues with equipment.
  • Supporting students during practical activities where appropriate.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Assisting teaching staff with practical demonstrations and projects.
  • Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed within practical areas.

The school is looking for someone who can bring practical experience, technical knowledge and a proactive approach to the role.

You may have experience as a:

  • Design Technology Technician
  • D&T Technician
  • Resistant Materials Technician
  • Product Design Technician
  • Engineering Technician
  • Workshop Technician
  • School or College Technician
  • Practical specialist with relevant industry experience

Experience working within a secondary school, college, workshop or practical learning environment would be advantageous, although candidates with strong relevant technical or industry experience may also be considered.

You'll need to be organised, reliable and confident working with practical equipment and materials, as well as being comfortable supporting both teaching staff and students.
