SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary School

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Merton.

The school is looking for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and who can provide consistent academic, behavioural and pastoral support.

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, helping pupils to access the curriculum while developing their confidence, independence and social skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support
  • Supporting pupils across the secondary curriculum
  • Assisting students with SEN and additional learning needs
  • Helping students remain focused and engaged in lessons
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and the wider SEN team

The school would particularly welcome candidates with experience of:

  • Autism / ASC
  • ADHD
  • SEMH
  • Complex learning needs
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Communication and interaction difficulties

Previous experience as an SEN TA, LSA, support worker or youth worker would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
