Role Summary

Working alongside the class teacher, you will support pupils throughout the school day and provide targeted support where required. You will play an important role in helping children access learning, build confidence and reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils across the KS2 curriculum
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups
  • Provide additional support in reading, writing and mathematics
  • Help pupils with additional learning needs access the curriculum
  • Encourage engagement, participation and independence
  • Support positive behaviour and established classroom routines
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom activities
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children
  • Primary school experience, particularly within KS2, is desirable
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Genuine enthusiasm for supporting children's learning and development
Candidates with transferable experience from youth work, sports coaching, childcare, mentoring or support work are encouraged to apply.

Pay and Progression

The role pays £95-£105 per day through PAYE.
The exact rate offered will depend on your previous experience, relevant skills and responsibilities within the role.
Candidates with experience supporting children in educational settings, previous KS2 experience, intervention delivery experience, strong literacy and numeracy support skills, or relevant Teaching Assistant qualifications may be considered for opportunities at the upper end of the pay scale of £105 per day.
