Support Creative and Practical Learning Across Art and Design Technology

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming secondary school in Southwark seeking a dedicated Art / DT Technician to join their team on a full-time temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity to support teaching and learning across Art and Design Technology while gaining valuable experience in a well-resourced educational environment.

Role Summary
As an Art / DT Technician, you will support the smooth running of Art and Design Technology lessons by preparing materials, maintaining equipment and ensuring learning spaces are organised, safe and ready for practical activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and organise materials, tools and resources for lessons
- Support teaching staff with practical classroom activities
- Ensure equipment and workspaces are maintained and ready for use
- Assist with stock management and ordering materials when required
- Support students with the safe and appropriate use of equipment
- Maintain clean, safe and organised workshop and classroom environments
- Follow health and safety procedures and department policies
- Assist with displays, exhibitions and practical project preparation
- Monitor and maintain departmental resources and equipment
Candidate Requirements
- A degree or relevant qualification in Art, Design Technology, Product Design, Creative Arts or a related subject is desirable
- Previous experience as an Art Technician, DT Technician or workshop-based technician is advantageous
- Practical and organised approach to supporting lessons
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of relevant health and safety procedures
- Ability to work effectively within a secondary school environment
- Reliable, proactive and professional attitude

Pay and Progression
The role pays £15.00-£18.00 per hour through PAYE.
The exact rate offered will depend on your experience, qualifications and responsibilities within the role.
Candidates considered for opportunities at the upper end of the pay scale of £18.00 per hour will typically demonstrate substantial Art or DT technician experience, strong practical workshop skills, knowledge of health and safety procedures, stock control experience, and the ability to work independently while supporting multiple curriculum areas.
