Location: Southwark, South East London
Pay: £100-£120 per day, PAYE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a supportive secondary school in Southwark seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team on a full-time temporary basis. Role Summary

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students, teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted support for pupils who may benefit from additional guidance with behaviour, engagement and learning.
You will help students develop positive strategies, improve engagement with education and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group mentoring support
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils
  • Support students to develop positive behaviour and engagement strategies
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams and support staff
  • Help pupils overcome barriers to learning
  • Encourage positive participation in school life
  • Promote confidence, resilience and self-regulation skills
  • Contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback where appropriate

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working with young people is desirable
  • Experience within education, youth work, mentoring or support roles is advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional and supportive approach to working with pupils
  • Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Resilience, patience and a positive attitude
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
A degree or relevant qualification is desirable but not essential. Relevant experience supporting young people will be considered.

Pay and Progression

The role pays £100-£120 per day through PAYE.
The exact rate offered will depend on your experience, qualifications and responsibilities within the role.
Candidates considered for opportunities at the upper end of the pay scale of £120 per day will typically demonstrate substantial experience working with young people, proven behaviour support experience, strong relationship-building skills, experience delivering mentoring interventions, and the ability to support students with complex behavioural or social needs.
