Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Wirral, Merseyside

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Do you have the confidence to lead learning, support students, and take on additional classroom responsibilities? We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic HLTA to support a secondary school on the Wirral, with immediate opportunities available.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced HLTA to provide high-quality support across a secondary school setting. You'll work closely with teaching staff to deliver learning activities, support students 1:1 and in small groups, and provide cover for lessons where required. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant looking to develop their skills and take on greater responsibility within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support the delivery of engaging lessons and learning activities
* Lead learning activities and interventions with individuals and small groups
* Provide classroom cover in the absence of teaching staff where required
* Support students with SEND, behavioural, and additional learning needs
* Work closely with teachers and SEN teams to monitor student progress
* Build positive relationships with students and encourage engagement in learning
* Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment

What We're Looking For:

* Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar education role
* HLTA qualification or relevant experience
* Strong communication and classroom management skills
* Confidence working independently and leading learning activities
* A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach
* A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
* A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)

Desirable (but not essential):

* Experience providing lesson cover within a secondary school
* Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs
* Relevant qualifications such as HLTA status, Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent
