Are you a practical, reliable, and proactive individual with experience in site maintenance or caretaking? Do you take pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment? We're looking for an experienced School Caretaker to join a secondary school in Wigan, with an immediate start available.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dependable Caretaker to support the day-to-day running and maintenance of a busy secondary school site. You'll play a key role in ensuring the school buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment are safe, secure, clean, and well maintained for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

* Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY across the school site
* Complete routine checks of buildings, grounds, facilities, and equipment
* Ensure the school site remains safe, secure, and well maintained
* Respond promptly to maintenance issues and report more complex repairs where required
* Support the opening and securing of the school site
* Assist with deliveries, moving furniture, setting up rooms, and general site duties
* Maintain outdoor areas and ensure grounds are kept tidy and presentable
* Monitor health and safety across the site and report any concerns
* Liaise with contractors and school staff where required

What We're Looking For:

* Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or similar role
* Good practical and DIY skills
* Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
* Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently
* Good organisational and communication skills
* Flexible approach to supporting the wider school site
* A valid enhanced DBS is essential for this role
* Available for an immediate start

Desirable (but not essential):

* Previous experience working within a secondary school or education setting
* Relevant maintenance, facilities, or trade qualifications
* Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, decorating, or general building maintenance
* Knowledge of school site security and safeguarding procedures
