Psychology Graduate - SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a range of specialist schools across the Ashford area, recruiting enthusiastic Psychology graduates to support pupils aged 4-19 with a variety of additional needs. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone considering a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health, Social Work or Teaching.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and therapists to help pupils reach their full potential. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Encouraging communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Helping implement individual learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils to promote confidence and independence.

You'll Be Supporting Pupils With

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • Moderate, Severe and Profound Learning Difficulties (MLD, SLD & PMLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Physical disabilities and complex medical needs
  • Sensory processing differences

We're Looking For

  • A degree in Psychology (or a closely related subject).
  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience.
  • Previous experience working with children or vulnerable adults is desirable but not essential.
