SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist Primary School
Location: Barnet, North London
Pay: £95-£115 per day PAYE, depending on experience
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Start Date: October 2026

Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Barnet.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to be part of a supportive school where their work can make a real difference.

The Role

You will work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to provide 1:1 and small-group support throughout the school day.

The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs, so you'll need to be confident adapting your approach to suit individual pupils.

You may be supporting children with:

• Autism and communication needs
• Learning difficulties and additional needs
• Social, emotional and behavioural needs
• Regulation and sensory needs
• 1:1 and small-group interventions
• Classroom activities and daily routines

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a patient, proactive and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant with previous experience working in a UK school.

Experience supporting pupils with SEND is essential, with knowledge of autism, sensory needs, PECS, Makaton, visual timetables or other communication strategies particularly useful.

You will need:

• Previous experience working in a UK school
• Experience supporting children with SEND
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• A patient and nurturing approach
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A commitment to safeguarding
• An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
