Location: Leyland, Lancashire (Multi-Site Primary Provision)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time (Monday to Friday, starting after October half term)

Daily Rate: £95 - £120 per day (dependent on experience)

Setting: Mainstream Primary Schools (SEMH & Inclusion Focus)

About the Role

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young children's lives? We are currently recruiting a resilient and compassionate SEMH Learning Mentor to join a network of supportive mainstream primary schools across Lancashire, starting right after the October half term.

Our partner primary schools aim to provide each pupil with the necessary emotional, pastoral, and academic support to meet their learning needs while remaining integrated within a mainstream classroom environment. We work closely with families, SENCOs, and supporting agencies to deliver a high standard of care for every young learner.

The focus across these primary settings is on early intervention, emotional regulation, and inclusive support-helping children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 overcome anxiety, behavioural hurdles, or disengagement so they can build confidence, resilience, and strong foundations for their future education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Targeted Mentoring: Deliver tailored 1-to-1 and small-group mentoring sessions to support emotional regulation, social skills, and classroom access.
  • Positive Behaviour Management: Utilise therapeutic de-escalation strategies, positive reinforcement, and restorative practices to support primary pupils through challenging emotional moments.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside primary class teachers, SENCOs, families, and external support agencies to monitor student development and update support plans.
  • Building Resilience: Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where vulnerable or anxious learners feel valued, motivated, and encouraged to succeed.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour. Backgrounds in primary education, youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or pastoral support are highly desirable.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication, high emotional resilience, patience, warmth, and strong conflict-resolution capabilities suited to a primary school environment.
  • Commitment: Available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, starting after the October half term.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive Pay: £95 - 120 per day.
  • Rewarding Career: Make a tangible, long-lasting impact on vulnerable young learners across Lancashire.
  • Supportive Environment: Join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to staff well being and professional development.
