Teacher - SEMH Specialist Provision

Location: Leiston, Suffolk
Position: Teacher
Contract: Full-time, Temporary
Start Date: ASAP, or January 2027 if your availability does not permit an immediate start

Teacher - ready to make a real difference?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and committed Teacher to join a supportive specialist education setting in Leiston, Suffolk, working with secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

We are keen to hear from teachers with a mainstream or SEN background who are looking for a rewarding opportunity to use their teaching skills in a specialist environment.

You don't necessarily need to have worked in an SEMH setting previously. The school is looking for a teacher who is patient, resilient, adaptable and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As a teacher within the setting, you will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons suited to pupils' individual needs

  • Teach across the curriculum according to your experience and subject strengths

  • Support secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs

  • Adapt teaching and learning approaches to help pupils engage and make progress

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Create a calm, structured and supportive classroom environment

  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, HLTAs and the wider support team

  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to their wider educational and personal development

Who Are We Looking For?

We would like to hear from teachers who have:

  • QTS or recognised teaching status

  • Experience teaching in a mainstream or SEN setting

  • A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential

  • A calm, consistent and positive approach to behaviour management

  • The ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations

Experience of SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or challenging behaviour would be advantageous, but is not essential for the right teacher.

This could be an excellent opportunity for a mainstream teacher looking to move into specialist education, as well as an experienced SEN/SEMH teacher looking for a new challenge.
