Tradewind Recruitment is seeking enthusiastic, caring and dedicated Supply SEND Teaching Assistants to work in a wide range of primary schools throughout Derby and the surrounding areas.

Whether you're an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN professional, youth worker, care worker, recent graduate, or have experience supporting children with additional needs, we'd love to hear from you.

No two days are the same, and supply work offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience across different primary school settings while enjoying flexibility over when and where you work.

The Role

As a Supply SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll provide dedicated support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and help them access learning and develop their confidence and independence.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Supporting children with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication and learning difficulties.
  • Working closely with teachers and SENCOs to support individual learning plans.
  • Delivering targeted interventions and supporting children's individual learning goals.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping pupils to develop their social and emotional skills.
  • Supporting children to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Providing personal care where required.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and encouraging their confidence and independence.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates who have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Experience working within a primary school, nursery, care, youth work or similar setting.
  • A positive, patient and nurturing approach.
  • An understanding of the different needs and challenges children with SEND may face.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build strong and trusting relationships with children.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting individual needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
