Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated PE Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in the East Riding of Yorkshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a committed educator to inspire students, promote an active and healthy lifestyle, and deliver engaging Physical Education lessons across a range of sports and activities.
The successful candidate will be available to start as soon as possible and will remain in post until 18th December 2026. We are looking for a motivated teacher who can create a positive learning environment, encourage participation and help students develop their physical skills, confidence and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
As a PE Teacher, your duties will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging, inclusive and challenging PE lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Teaching a range of physical activities and sports, developing students' physical competence, fitness and sporting knowledge.
- Differentiating lessons to meet the needs and abilities of all students, ensuring every learner has the opportunity to succeed.
- Assessing, monitoring and recording student progress, providing constructive feedback to support development.
- Promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience, discipline and respect through physical activity.
- Maintaining high standards of behaviour, ensuring students remain engaged, motivated and focused.
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students during practical lessons, following appropriate safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
- Preparing, organising and maintaining sports equipment and facilities.
- Encouraging participation in extracurricular sporting activities, clubs and school teams where required.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to support the wider school community and contribute to students' personal development.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Have experience teaching PE within a secondary school setting, although applications from suitable early career teachers are welcome.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge across a variety of sports and physical activities.
- Have excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Be enthusiastic about promoting physical activity, health and wellbeing.
- Be committed to safeguarding students and creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Be flexible, reliable and available to start ASAP for the duration of the placement.

To join us and be successful in this role you will need to:
- Have experience working as a PE Teacher, or working in a learning support assistant role
- Have experience working within schools in the UK.
- Have a PGCE or QTS
- Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
- CV must cover the full CV History
- Legal right to work in the UK
