Are you someone who can build trust, inspire confidence and help young people see what they are capable of achieving?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a specialist education setting in the Woodbridge area to recruit a dedicated Behaviour & Learning Mentor to support young people who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education.

This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils who need patience, consistency and someone who believes in their potential. If you have experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, behavioural difficulties or additional learning needs, this could be a hugely rewarding next step.

The Role

As a Behaviour & Learning Mentor, you will play an important part in helping pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle with engagement, emotional regulation or behaviour.

  • Providing tailored support to help young people access learning and develop their confidence.

  • Supporting pupils to manage challenging emotions and develop positive coping strategies.

  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to maintain a consistent, supportive approach.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, improved engagement and greater independence.

  • Helping pupils recognise their strengths and celebrate their progress, however big or small.

Who Would Suit This Role?

We are looking for someone who is calm, resilient, empathetic and committed to helping young people overcome barriers to education.

You may have experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker or in another role supporting young people with additional needs.

Experience of SEMH, challenging behaviour, autism, trauma-informed practice or alternative provision would be particularly beneficial.

Above all, you will need patience, consistency and the ability to build relationships with young people who may take time to trust the adults around them.

  • Competitive daily pay based on experience and the role.
