Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a confident, resilient and passionate Unqualified Teacher to join a specialist secondary SEMH school in the St Neots area.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a strong interest in education and experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will be working with secondary-aged pupils who may face barriers to learning, emotional regulation and engagement with education.
You will play an important role in delivering engaging learning activities, building positive relationships and helping students develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
The Role
As an Unqualified Teacher, you will:
Deliver engaging lessons and learning activities across KS3 and KS4, using provided planning and resources where appropriate.
Support students with a range of SEMH needs, helping them access the curriculum and remain engaged in learning.
Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
Establish clear expectations and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment.
Manage challenging behaviour using appropriate de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a positive role model.
Support students with emotional regulation, confidence and personal development.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and other professionals to support student progress.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils or young people.
Has experience supporting individuals with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour or mental health difficulties.
Is confident leading learning activities and managing a classroom.
Has a calm, patient and consistent approach.
Understands the importance of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support.
Can motivate and engage students who may have struggled to access mainstream education.
Is resilient, adaptable and passionate about helping young people reach their potential.
Previous experience in a secondary SEMH school, alternative provision, specialist education, residential childcare or youth support would be particularly beneficial.
You do not need to hold QTS for this position, but you should have relevant experience and the confidence to lead learning with secondary-aged pupils.
