Cover Supervisor - Amersham, Buckinghamshire

Cover Supervisor in Amersham providing secondary classroom support, maintaining positive behaviour and helping lessons continue smoothly.

Are you comfortable taking responsibility for a classroom and helping pupils make productive use of lesson time? A secondary setting in Amersham is looking for someone dependable to provide lesson supervision.

This general Cover Supervisor position involves supporting classes across the secondary curriculum when teachers are absent. You will use the work and guidance provided, keep pupils engaged and help lessons run smoothly. Each day can bring contact with different subjects and groups, making the role suitable for someone adaptable who enjoys working with young people. Previous school experience may be useful, although no specific experience requirement has been supplied.

Responsibilities

  • Take charge of classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff.

  • Communicate lesson instructions and support pupils as they complete set work.

  • Promote positive behaviour and a respectful learning environment.

  • Keep pupils on task and address routine disruption appropriately.

  • Follow school guidance and pass on any relevant lesson feedback or concerns.

Requirements

  • Confidence speaking to and supervising secondary-age pupils.

  • A patient, approachable manner and consistent expectations.

  • The ability to follow instructions and use initiative appropriately.

  • No particular teaching qualification or QTS requirement has been specified.
