Cover Supervisor - Chesham, Buckinghamshire

Support continuity in the classroom at a secondary school in Chesham. This opportunity is for someone who can supervise lessons, give clear direction and help pupils stay focused on their learning.

Working as a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes when their usual teacher is unavailable. The role covers general secondary lessons rather than a specified subject, so you will need to follow the instructions and materials provided for each class. It offers varied experience across the school day and the chance to play a practical part in keeping learning moving.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise pupils in lessons across the secondary curriculum.

  • Share the teacher's instructions and make sure pupils know what work to complete.

  • Encourage participation and maintain a focused classroom.

  • Apply the school's behaviour expectations fairly and consistently.

  • Report any significant concerns or incidents through the school's usual procedures.

Requirements

  • The confidence to lead a class of secondary-age pupils.

  • Clear communication and a calm approach to managing behaviour.

  • Reliability and the ability to follow lesson instructions.

  • No specific subject specialism, teaching qualification or QTS requirement has been supplied.
