Predominantly an agricultural county, Lincolnshire is also a part of Britain that is steeped in history. Its coastal resorts, including Skegness, thrive on coastal tourism, while its towns and cities are dotted across an incredible landscape that are popular with both cyclists and walkers.
Lincoln Cathedral hosts regular events, including concerts and food markets, while one of only four surviving original pieces of the Magna Carta document is preserved in the Castle.
Lincolnshire is a large county and the dominant focus is on rural life. That makes it a haven for explorers, wildlife lovers and cyclists.
Having a car is recommended given the remoteness of many smaller towns, but also as it opens up opportunities to look further afield. The Steel City of Sheffield is around 90 minutes from Lincoln by train while any of the region’s coastal resorts are also within easy reach if you want to spend your weekend relaxing or walking along miles of sandy beaches.
With its relaxed way of life and hundreds of acres of outdoor spaces, it’s easy to see why Lincolnshire is popular with those that love nature.
The county is also one of few in the UK that still use the 11‐plus exam set up to decide who can attend grammar school. This has meant that most towns have both a grammar school and a secondary modern school, with primary schools often serving several villages in the rural areas.
